Mochidoro support
A good place to start.
The timer works on each device on its own. Follow these steps when you want your Mac and phone to work together.
Connect your devices
- Install and open Mochidoro on your Mac and iPhone or iPad.
- Sign in to the same Apple Account for iCloud on both devices, with iCloud enabled for Mochidoro.
- Unlock The Full Mochidoro. If you already bought it, use Restore Purchases on the unlock screen. Your App Store purchase account can differ from your iCloud account.
- Start a session on one device and open the app on the other to let them sync. Allow notifications on your phone when you want timer reminders.
Does my phone need to stay open?
No. Once your phone has scheduled a reminder, iOS can deliver it while the app is closed or suspended. A Live Activity that has already started can also keep showing its countdown.
A new Mac session or a change to its timer still needs to reach your phone. Background iCloud updates can be delayed or missed; having iCloud enabled on the Mac alone does not guarantee a phone reminder. Open Mochidoro on the phone to refresh it when needed.
For the most dependable setup, open the phone app after starting your Mac session. A scheduled reminder may become outdated if a later pause or reset has not reached the phone.
Live Activities
Start a timer in the iPhone app, or open the app to pick up your Mac’s timer. Allow Live Activities for Mochidoro in iPhone Settings. The countdown can appear on the Lock Screen; supported iPhone models can also show it in Dynamic Island.
An ordinary background iCloud update cannot reliably start a new Live Activity. The optional Sync From Mac action in Shortcuts provides another way to request a refresh.
Optional Focus automation
First, confirm ordinary sync works. Focus setup is optional for normal timer use.
- On Mac, open System Settings → Focus → your work Focus → Add Filter. Choose Mochidoro Sessions and enable “Start a session when this Focus turns on.”
- Enable Share Across Devices in Focus settings on your Mac and iPhone. Use the same Focus on both devices.
- On iPhone, open Shortcuts → Automation → +. Choose that Focus, When Turning On, and Run Immediately. Create a blank automation, add Mochidoro’s Sync From Mac action, and set its Focus Change parameter to Turning On.
- Create another automation for When Turning Off. Add the same action, set Focus Change to Turning Off, and choose Run Immediately.
The action waits briefly for your Mac to confirm the Focus change. Test both automations with your phone locked. If confirmation fails, keep Mochidoro running on Mac, check the filter and Share Across Devices, then open the phone app to refresh. Starting a timer manually does not trigger a Focus automation.
Missing notifications or Watch alerts
- Check Settings → Notifications → Mochidoro on your iPhone. If a Focus is active, allow Mochidoro in that Focus’s Apps list.
- Allow Background App Refresh and avoid force-quitting the phone app if you want background sync. Low Power Mode and system scheduling can limit background updates.
- Apple normally sends an alert to your unlocked iPhone or your paired, unlocked Apple Watch according to device state and notification settings. It does not normally alert both at once.
- Open the phone app and confirm the displayed session matches your Mac. A desktop widget on its own does not run the Mac timer or send alerts.
Mac timer and installation
Mochidoro lives in the menu bar and near the notch, with no Dock icon. Use the menu bar icon for Settings, the setup guide, and Quit. On displays without a notch it uses a small pill near the menu bar.
If you have multiple app copies, quit Mochidoro and keep one current copy in Applications. Launch that copy, then check Launch at login in its Settings. Keep old copies closed while checking sync.
Purchases
The Full Mochidoro is a one-time purchase. Restore Purchases is on the unlock screen. Check that the device uses the Apple Account that owns the purchase, or eligible Family Sharing. The current price is shown by the App Store before you buy.
